This Coat of Arms was prepared for the Ratliff Reunion in Cheraw , SC in 1995. May MacCallum found an artist in Chesterfield , SC who specialized in researching and painting Coat of Arms. He researched the Ratliff (not Ratcliff) history and confirmed this was the actual Coat of Arms for the Ratliff Family. [You may click on the arms to see a larger version.]

Is it Ratcliff, Ratliff, Ratliffe, Ratcliffe, Ratleif????
Just a word about how the last name is spelled. We have discovered many different spellings for the last name over the years. So please don’t let a different spelling eliminate anyone from consideration in your own genealogy. Many spelled the name like they thought they heard it. Also, as I have discovered in my own case, even when you spell it for others, they still will insist in putting a “c” in the name or to end the spelling with an “e”. So please keep all options open when you are looking at information that may contain your own personal genealogical history.
